Why You Should Give GLP-1 a Try for Weight Loss

September 10, 2025

People looking to shed the excess fat are likely to have gorged on the cruel starvation diet and spent countless, drenched hours on the treadmill and/or even clicking on weird tea ads on Instagram. Much to their discontent, however, nothing has budged. Enter GLP-1. There has been a shift in the perception of weight loss and blood sugar control, all thanks to this medicine.

Beyond Lifestyle Changes

Relax. This isn’t the GLP-1 magic marketing parameter which speaks about ‘lifestyle changes’ and ‘moderate success.’ This is real. ‘Works’ is the best way to put it. GLP-1 is a medication given to type 2 diabetes patients due to its effect on the body’s insulin self-regulation. Some like to call it a ‘side effect’, but the truth is, it is the real reason: it neurobiologically interrupts the body’s hunger control system.

A New Normal

You have a new normal. You are able to sleep through the night without experiencing ‘food noise’, which is the body’s craving for food, and the massive order of nachos is the unhealthy, prime, midnight snack.

First Encounter with GLP-1

When I first came across the term GLP-1, I thought it was outlandish. Easing the symptomology of obesity without the suffering of dieting? It did not seem plausible. Yet time and time again, I have patients telling me they have lost between 15 to 20, in some cases 50 pounds, and not once do I get comments about extreme hunger. This is not magic. There is some slowing of the gastrointestinal tract, some fuller for an extended period of time, and yes, some brain chemistry stuff. To anyone who is caught in the “I will just try harder” paradox, it is not a question of willpower. It is a question of hormones.

The Ripple Effect on Health

The other thing I do not think gets talked about enough is the massive ripple effect. There is a reason epidemiologic data suggests that losing as little as 5-10 percent of body weight is associated with a lower risk of developing heart disease. There is lower blood pressure, decreased mechanical load on the joints, even remission of sleep apnea. People who have not slept without snoring for decades, all of a sudden the snoring is gone. It is not insubstantial. We are talking about tangible betterment in quality of life, not some elusive data on a graph.

Society’s Misplaced Blame

The absurd part is the GLP-1 receptors treat this biomedical issue as, “Hey! biology is working against you, Let’s change the rules. counterparts.” And, society still pushes “stop sitting, eat less, go for a walk”. What about. the. the evolution as a whole? People would probably live healthier and longer, less miserable and miserable, happier lives if the shame of busting out the medical bonkers instead of a million bootcamps. They do. They do. They do. Those who do purchase, suffer embarrassingly excruciatingly nauseating fads. Yes, this is rudimentary hush hush. It is, as we all know, ridiculous, economically unequalifiable if there’s no insurance provider. These, my dear friend, are messy issues. 9090 is the outro, the. the outcast. It is so easy to forget this can reduce, drastically, the burden of health-related issues and expenses in the future.

The Psychological Shift

No one prepares you for the psychological shift. Abstraction from food allowed the mind to engage more freely. Self-hate and the insatiable quest for perfection all stifled the flourishing of the self. People polish skills they had forgotten. Relationships deepen. Even self esteem returns. Sounds clichéd? Ask the person who has undergone it. Shedding Kilos is much more than a burden of larger jeans.

The Ongoing Discourse

I believe the public discourse around toilets is just starting. Now, it lives in the crossfire of exuberant celebrity attention and furious tweet storms of egalitarian hate. The facts of the matter and science are indisputable. Lives are being changed. If your doctor feels you are a good candidate, then Yes, you should give the toilet a try. Do not let the shame patrol and the social media loudmouths discourage you. Feeling a sense of fullness and health, being comfortable in the body for the first time is not a scam.

Final Real Talk

Medicine works and that fulfills the demand. Here is the real talk. If you are trying to escape the seemingly never-ending cycle of failed diets, insatiable urges to eat more, and the self-inflicted hardcore discipline, then why do you choose to suffer? GLP-1 is not a magic pill, but it is the closest thing we have to a miracle.
